MTC'S MISSION
At Muslim Tech Collaborative, we are action-oriented in our mission to empower Muslims and allies in the tech space.
HISTORY
The Seed Is Planted
MTC began as a small initiative at UC Berkeley. What started as a project to build janazas.org for Five Pillars Islamic Cemetery quickly revealed a larger need: creating more opportunities for Muslims in tech and leveraging technical talent to solve community problems.
First Growth
As MTC Berkeley established its foundation, we began reaching beyond campus borders. We organized youth coding workshops at Hikmah School in Brentwood Muslim Community Center in Brentwood, CA and initiated conversations with Muslim students at other universities about expanding our model.
Building the Foundation
MTC Berkeley solidified its structure while laying groundwork for expansion. We established our core programs: technical workshops, consulting projects, and professional development initiatives. The organization's impact on Berkeley's Muslim community demonstrated the model's potential.
Rapid Expansion
MTC experienced remarkable growth, expanding from 5 to 15 university chapters in just one semester. We hosted tech industry leaders for fireside chats and technical workshops, while establishing partnerships with Muslim organizations nationwide. Our model of combining technical education, community service, and professional development resonated across campuses.
A Movement Takes Shape
By the end of 2024, MTC had grown to over 30 university chapters across the United States. We participated in major events like Muslim Tech Fest, establishing ourselves as a vital voice for Muslims in technology. Our consulting arm, Pulse Consulting, completed projects for dozens of Muslim organizations, demonstrating the power of our community-centered approach.
Building for the Future
Today, MTC continues to grow into a global movement. We're establishing regional hubs, expanding our youth programs, and strengthening our professional network while staying true to our founding mission: creating a home for Muslims in tech to collaborate, learn, and grow together.

Our Impact
What started as a small team at UC Berkeley in Spring 2023 has grown into a nationwide movement. Today, Muslim Tech Collaborative (MTC) has over 30 university chapters across the U.S.
We've got chapters at amazing schools like UC Berkeley, Georgia Tech, Stanford, and UT Austin, along with regional hubs in the Bay Area, Atlanta, and the Midwest. Each chapter is making an impact in its local community, working on projects that bring real value to Muslims in tech and beyond.
Our community has thousands of passionate members—from students learning to code for the first time to professionals sharing their expertise. Through partnerships with industry leaders like Tesla, Waymo, Google, Sony, and Headstarter, we're creating meaningful opportunities for our members while building bridges between the Muslim community and the tech industry. We're also reaching younger audiences with coding workshops and mentorship for middle and high school students, helping prepare the next generation of tech leaders.
WHO WE ARE
MISSION
The Muslim Tech Collaborative (MTC) serves as a home for Muslims in the technology industry to collaborate on solving real-world problems, building technical literacy, and accelerating career growth while creating a supportive community ecosystem.
VISION
To become the premier organization for Muslims in technology, creating a global network that drives meaningful innovation, builds accessible career pathways, and delivers positive social impact through technological excellence and community collaboration.
CORE VALUES
Purposeful Innovation
We prioritize initiatives that solve real problems over those that merely use trendy technology. When resources are limited, we choose impact-driven projects that serve genuine needs.
Inclusive Excellence
We uphold high standards while ensuring accessibility for all. When facing tradeoffs, we choose approaches that maintain quality while removing barriers to participation.
Sustainable Growth
We build for long-term impact rather than short-term visibility. When facing pressure for quick results, we choose foundation-building over temporary gains.
Community Stewardship
We prioritize strengthening our community ecosystem over individual recognition. When opportunities arise, we choose what benefits the broader Muslim tech community.
OUR STRUCTURE
MTC operates through a tiered model that maximizes impact across different levels of engagement:
National
Sets overall vision and strategic direction for the organization. Secures national partnerships, coordinates major events (Muslim Tech Fest, National Conference), and oversees fellowship programs. Responsible for maintaining alignment across all MTC entities.
Regional
Acts as operational hub for university chapters and professional programs. Manages regional events, oversees corporate relationship management, provides chapter support, and coordinates Pulse Consulting and Youth initiatives at the regional level.
University Chapters
Drives direct student engagement through campus-specific initiatives. Handles member recruitment, organizes technical workshops and events, implements chapter-level consulting projects, and sponsors local Youth groups. Each chapter builds student communities, develops future leaders, and connects members with industry opportunities.
Youth Chapters
High school and community college division creating a pipeline from secondary education to university chapters and professional careers. Provides early technical education, leadership development, and college preparation through programs mentored by university students.
